Digital Archive from an Archaeological Excavation at Hook Norton Road, Sibford Ferris, Oxfordshire, October - November 2021

This collection comprises images, documents and site records, GIS, database, and spreadsheet data from an archaeological excavation at land off Hook Norton Road, Sibford Ferris, Oxfordshire, a site of proposed residential development. Work was undertaken in October to November 2021 by Oxford Archaeology. The finds and environmental remains recovered from the main enclosure ditch and pits, including pottery (the majority dating to the middle Iron Age), animal bone, fired clay (including oven/hearth lining) and charred plant remains, are indicative of a focus of domestic occupation and waste disposal activity in this area. The only unusual find was an iron punch. A substantial east-west linear hollow just outside the enclosure entrance may represent the remains of a Iron Age trackway or holloway.
