The Arabidopsis thaliana HOP2 protein plays a role in homologous chromosome pairing during meiosis. HOP2 has both MND1-dependent and MND1-indpendent roles, and modulates the activity of the recombination/repair enzymes DMC1/RAD51. HOP2 and MND1 are known to bind ssDNA and dsDNA, but it is unknown whether there are any DNA sequence or chromatin motif specificity. The goal of this study was to identify specific chromatin motifs using a HOP2::HA tagged gene and ChIP-Seq.
