Danish Gallup Omnibus Data, 1964 comprises 12 omnibus surveys carried out by the Danish Gallup Institute in 1964. #Each survey contains a number of demographic variables common to all the surveys of that year, as well as a number of questions dealing with topical events. This data material contains infortion from all the omnibuses concerning the questions common to them. # #The questions common to all 1964 omnibuses are: degree of urbanization; sex; age; marital status; number of persons in household and composition of household; occupational status of respondent and of supporter; income of respondent and total income of family; education of respondent; occupational status of housewife; social group; type of dwelling; possession of garden and/or summer cottage; party preference at the last general election and at a hypothetical election on the day after the interview (except in bus nos. 10 and 12). # #The special questions deal with such issues as: # #Omnibus no. 01 (DDA-1271): #Whether the respondent's spouse (if any) has the same political conviction as the respondent, and if not the spouse's party preference; whether the respondent has always had the same political conviction, and if not which party/parties the respondent has voted for earlier; and which party the respondent's father supported or supports. # #Omnibus no. 02 (DDA-1272): #The performance of the Government; preferred type of dwelling and the reasons for this preference; attitude to a coalition between the Social Democratic Party and the Conservative People's Party; and the excise tax: whether the revenue is necessary, and opinion of the best way of obtaining the revenue. # #Omnibus no. 03 (DDA-1273): #Who should choose the husband of Crown Princess Margrethe, the Government or P.M. herself?; attitudes to Danish membership of NATO; radio and TV habits; whether the respondent spent yesterday evening at home; knowledge of the UN and affiliated organizations (FAO, UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO); housing expenses; and age of the respondent's dwelling. # #Omnibus no. 04 (DDA-1274): #Opinion of the Saturday night TV shows 'Trekampen' (a Nordic contest); TV in household; assessment of the 'Melodi Grand Prix' (Eurovision Song Contest) on TV; whether the respondent thinks it is a good idea to invite President Khrushchev to Denmark; the ideal age for an active politician; whether men and women are equally suitable as politicians; whether the Soviet Union or the USA will start a nuclear war or who is most interested in avoiding it; and knowledge of the trademarks 'Trevira' and 'Terylene'. # #Omnibus no. 05 (DDA-1275): #Attitudes to tax already paid being tax deductible; attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. tax system; attitudes to an S/B (i.e. the Social Democratic Party and the Radical Liberal Party) coalition government; the percentage of household income spent on rent and heating; attitudes to the Danish UN peacekeeping forces in Cyprus; and knowledge of and attitudes to the Danish Gallup Institute and its surveys. # #Omnibus no. 06 (DDA-1276): #Attitude to owner-occupied flats; attitude to an S/SF (i.e. the Social Democratic Party and the Socialist People's Party) majority in the Danish Parliament; government preference; attitude to moving the Danish church festival 'Store Bededag', which now falls on the fourth Friday after Easter, to the autumn; opinion of the performance of the Government; attitudes to Danish membership of NATO; radio and TV in household; whether the respondent listened to the radio the previous day and if so: when and what programme; whether the respondent watched TV the previous day; and whether the respondent was at home the previous evening. # #Omnibus no. 07 (DDA-1277): #Opinion of the performance of the Government; attitudes to Khrushchev's official visit to Denmark; attitudes to tax already paid being tax deductible; attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. system; important political issues in the coming general election campaign (economy, housing, tax, education, defence, social welfare); which party may best solve the problems; and participation in discussions about family matters, political issues and/or purchases in the last two weeks. # #Omnibus no. 08 (DDA-1278): #Important political issues in the coming general election campaign (economy, housing, tax, education, defence, social welfare); the best qualified party to solve the problems; attitudes to Danish membership of the EC (provided that Great Britain joins the EC simultaneously); opinion of various TV programmes; food preferences; assessment of 5 heads of state (General de Gaulle, Prime Minister Douglas Home, Chancellor Ludwig Erhard, President Lyndon B. Johnson, and President Nikita Khrushchev) and their efforts to promote peace in the world; and the role of the Danish UN peacekeeping forces in Cyprus in case of war between the Greeks and the Turks in Cyprus. # #Omnibus no. 09 (DDA-1279): #Knowledge of the US presidential elections on 4 November, 1964; which candidate the respondent would prefer (Lyndon B. Johnson or Barry Goldwater) and why; assessment of Goldwater's and Khrushchev's efforts to promote peace in the world; attitudes to consumption tax; important political issues in the coming general election campaign (economy, housing, tax, education, defence, social welfare); political party best qualified to solve the problems; assessment of language courses on radio and TV; and strapless evening dresses and swimsuits. # #Omnibus no. 10 (DDA-1280): #TV in household; assessment of the election programmes on TV (whether some of the broadcasts were particularly good or poor, criticism of the broadcasts, should TV continue with the broadcasts after the election); attitudes to tax already paid being tax deductible; attitudes to the P.A.Y.E. tax system; tax preferred (income tax or consumption tax); and assessment of which party/parties should form the government after the election. # #Omnibus no. 11 (DDA-1281): #Assessment of the TV series 'Terningerne er kastet' (The Die Is Cast); air transport; vote at the general elections in 1960 and 1964; attitudes to President Nikita Khrushchev and his fall from power; and attitudes to Danish membership of NATO. # #Omnibus no. 12 (DDA-1282): #Assessment of the viability of the Government; attitudes to duty-free tobacco and alcohol bought in Sweden, Norway and West Germany; Denmark's economic situation in 1965; assessment of the new Consumer Tax Bill; Christmas present expenditure; and membership of a Christmas savings club
