资源简介:
Sensory impairments following a stroke significantly affect survivors' ability to engage in meaningful daily activities, yet these changes remain underexplored. This qualitative study investigates how alterations in sensory health impact participation in health-promoting activities among stroke survivors. Using focus groups with 20 stroke survivors and 15 stakeholders (including therapists and caregivers), we examined sensory changes across visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory, and olfactory domains. Findings revealed four key themes: (1) sensory impairments are often unrecognised in clinical settings, (2) these changes notably disrupt participation in daily activities, (3) sensory overload leads to social withdrawal, and (4) insufficient resources hinder sensory health management. Supported by an increased sample size and rigorous thematic analysis, this study highlights the need for targeted sensory assessments and interventions in stroke rehabilitation to enhance participation and quality of life. Future research should aim to develop standardised sensory health protocols and incorporate culturally diverse perspectives
