资源简介:
Does global warming worsen gender equality? Evidence from subnational data Authors: Naveen Kumar (Delhi School of Economics) Prof. Dibyendu Maiti (Delhi School of Economics) Date: April 8, 2025 1. Overview This replication package provides all the publicly available data, code, and instructions required to reproduce the main empirical results of the above-mentioned research paper. The package is designed to facilitate transparency and enable independent verification of all statistical findings reported in the study. 2. Contents This folder contains datasets sourced from the Global Data Lab (GDL) [https://globaldatalab.org/], which offers subnational-level indicators including the Human Development Index (HDI), Gender Development Index (GDI), per capita income, and related metrics. These indicators are compiled primarily from household surveys such as the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) [https://dhsprogram.com/], with aggregation to subnational regions using survey-weighted estimates. For non-survey years, GDL employs interpolation and extrapolation techniques to estimate values across periods like 2000–2019. Climate variables—such as temperature, precipitation, and humidity—are derived from the GDL geospatial database (https://globaldatalab.org/geos/), which aggregates weather and emission data compatible with subnational regions for analytical integration. These datasets are structured for ease of use for researchers with limited geospatial training. We acknowledge Yohan Iddawela's post on X [https://x.com/yohaniddawela/status/1829122168694653234], associated with The Spatial Edge newsletter(https://www.spatialedge.co/p/new-granular-human-development-index?utm_source=publication-search), as the source through which we discovered this resource. The folder includes two primary datasets: Temp_gender_GDL.dta: The core dataset used for primary analyses, incorporating temperature, gender-related indicators, and other variables from GDL. robustness_demography.dta: An extended dataset incorporating additional demographic variables for robustness checks. Additionally, the folder may contain do-files for data processing and PDFs of log files capturing execution outputs.
