README Dataset title Acoustic telemetry observations and reconstructed fish positions from Store Lungegårdsvannet, Bergen, Norway Associated publication This dataset accompanies the manuscript: Sea floor restoration reshapes species-specific associations with anthropogenic structures in predatory fish The study investigates how large-scale seafloor restoration influenced habitat use and associations with anthropogenic structures in Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua) and pollock (Pollachius pollachius) using acoustic telemetry and fine-scale positioning. The dataset contains both processed telemetry observations and reconstructed fish positions used in the analyses presented in the manuscript. Repository contents This repository contains two datasets. fish_positions_yaps.rds This file contains reconstructed fine-scale fish positions estimated from acoustic telemetry detections using YAPS (Yet Another Positioning Solver). Each row represents one estimated fish position. Dataset size 6,382,507 observations 16 variables Variables Variable Description dt Date and time of the estimated position. x Projected x-coordinate (m). y Projected y-coordinate (m). z Estimated depth (m), when available. top_sd Position quality metric from the YAPS solution. x_sd Estimated standard deviation of the x-coordinate (m). y_sd Estimated standard deviation of the y-coordinate (m). z_sd Estimated uncertainty of the depth estimate. nobs Number of receivers contributing to the position estimate. Each row represents a single sensor transmission from an individual fish. Sensor types Sensor Description Units depth Fish depth meters temp Water temperature °C accel Relative acceleration/activity index recorded by the transmitter transmitter-specific units Study area The study was conducted in Store Lungegårdsvannet, an urban estuary located in Bergen, western Norway. Fish movements were monitored before and after a large-scale seafloor restoration project involving sediment capping with clean sand and gravel and removal of anthropogenic debris. Position estimation Fine-scale positions were reconstructed from acoustic detections using the R package YAPS (Yet Another Positioning Solver). Monthly synchronization models were fitted to the receiver array before estimating fish positions. Position accuracy depends on receiver geometry and the number of simultaneous detections contributing to each estimate. Coordinate system Coordinates are stored as projected planar coordinates (meters) used for local positioning within Store Lungegårdsvannet. They are intended for spatial analyses and are not geographic latitude/longitude. Missing values Missing values (NA) indicate that a variable could not be estimated for a given observation (e.g., depth or uncertainty estimates).
