Density raster files of critical assets in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru

The eleven raster files depict the density of: population, buildings, transportation, emergency facilities, critical facilities, power infrastructure, water infrastructure, telecommunication, economic activities, natural sites, and cultural sites. The study area encompasses the four countries containing the Central and Southern Volcanic Zones of the Andes: Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. This region is characterized by complex volcanic activity, heterogeneous territorial systems, and significant transboundary exposure. At the regional scale, density maps are the most effective way to represent categories of assets within a GIS environment. This approach allows for a continuous representation of the spatial distribution, enabling the identification of concentration patterns and exposure gradients that would be less evident if only discrete points, lines, or polygons were used. The shared density layers use the WGS 1984 UTM Zone 19S projected coordinate system as their spatial reference. They are single-band rasters, formatted as 32-bit floating-point images, with a spatial resolution (cell size) of 1,000 m x 1,000 m.
