Mast cell - tumor cell interaction related gene and microRNA expression profiles in oral squamous cell carcinoma

In the tumor microenvironment (TME) of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC), mast cells have a prognostic impact on overall patient survival. In addition, these cells interact with OSCC tumor cells and alter their cellular properties such as proliferation and invasion. To gain further insight into the gene and miRNA expression profiles of both cell types, a transcriptome and miRNA sequencing analysis of both cell populations in monoculture and co-culture was performed. Three biological replicates were performed in each case. The samples were three OSCC tumor cell lysates (PCI-13) from monoculture and three OSCC tumor cell lysates (PCI-13) after 48h co-culture with mast cells (LUVA). In addition, three mast cell lysates (LUVA) from monoculture and three mast cell lysates (LUVA) after 48h co-culture with OSCC tumor cells (PCI-13) were examined.
