Optimising the lymphatic delivery of pancreatic enzyme inhibitors to mitigate acute pancreatitis

The pancreas is an organ that helps us digest food, but in some people, it can suddenly become very sick. This disease causes the pancreas to release powerful digestive juices too early, which then start to attack the pancreas itself. These juices can leak into the blood and damage other parts of the body, including the lungs, liver, and kidneys. In my PhD research, I studied how this chain reaction happens and tested new ways to block it. We designed a novel strategy to deliver two existing medicines together, which protected several organs at once and offers hope for better treatments in the future.
