Full-length mitochondrial DNA sequencing dataset from eight family pedigrees using third-generation sequencing

This dataset comprises full-length mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequencing data from 107 samples across eight family pedigrees, including complex familial structures such as half-siblings and multi-generational households. The mtDNA was amplified using a single pair of primers and sequenced on a nanopore-based third-generation sequencing platform, minimizing interference from nuclear mitochondrial DNA sequences (NUMTs). The dataset achieves 100% genome coverage with an average sequencing depth of 2061.98, providing high-confidence variant detection. This resource is valuable for studies in mtDNA mutation detection, mitochondrial genetics, evolutionary biology, population genetics, ancestry tracing, and forensic identification.
