Datasets : Detailed statistics for the Port of Nouméa between 2001 and 2017

These datasets captures 15 years of maritime traffic at the Port of Nouméa from 2002 to 2017, based on port authority registers. These figures are therefore the official figures for maritime trade during the period in question. They do not include illicit trade, black market, or other potential violations of the rules governing entry and exit of ships and goods in the archipelago, but they can serve as a basis for the creation of numerous reliable statistics on New Caledonia's foreign trade. a) Port Movements and Stopovers in New Caledonia (2002–2017) The port movements and stopovers dataset includes all ship movements recorded at Nouméa, with detailed metadata on vessel identity, port of origin and destination, flag, tonnage, operator, and shipping agent. A linked table provides information on additional stopovers outside New Caledonia for each voyage, offering a complete view of maritime routes and regional dynamics. This table includes additional port calls before or after Nouméa, allowing full reconstruction of routes. The id field links the Nouméa records to their corresponding additional stopovers.This dataset allows for the analysis of maritime traffic by flag, region, and tonnage. Coordinates enable geospatial mapping and flow analysis. Tonnage, IMO code, and vessel type allow comparison with earlier port registries. Thanks to this tool, we can reconstruct routes using the chains: origin → Nouméa → destination) and we can see contemporary trade trends in the Pacific region since the early 2000s. Finally, it provides an insight into the profiling of terminal usage at the port of Nouméa. b) Containers and goods movements in Noumea (2002-2017) This dataset provides a comprehensive account of containerized cargo traffic at the Port of Nouméa from 2002 to 2017. It includes more than 1 million container entries, with metadata on container codes, dimensions, types, ship of origin, port of loading/unloading, and associated goods. A link table detailed 816 514 records of goods associated with container movements. Both tables include detailed metadata on container ID, port call number, and vessel.Geospatial coordinates enable accurate spatial mapping of logistics flows. Harmonized fields enable links to be established with other datasets (ports of call, ship registers). By tracking volumes, we can measure the flow and tonnage of goods over 15 years, but it is also possible to study the different profiles of supply chains, identify common routes and shipping agents. Finally, it allows for a comparative analysis of flows by cross-referencing them with general ship movements and port calls.
