Endophytes isolates of wild relatives of crops

Plant microbiomes are essential in shaping crop resilience and nutritional quality, but the microbiome of many crops is not well understood. This study generates complete genomes of endophyte isolates from living roots and stem of prickly wild lettuce, Lactuca serriola to characterize the potential microbial activities of endophytic bacteria in lettuce genotypes that may influence key traits and consumers' preferences. Understanding these plant-microbiome interactions is crucial for improving crop resilience and nutritional quality.
