资源简介:
Equine encephalosis virus (EEV), is a Culicoides spp. transmitted orbivirus in the virus family Reoviridae. The virus is causative agent of equine encephalosis, a neurological disease of horses and other equids. In horses, infection with EEV may result in variable clinical signs, including fever, facial swelling (lips and eyelids), respiratory distress, petechial haemorrhaging of the conjunctivae and neurological signs (e.g. ataxia, convulsion, hyperexcitability and depression). The virus was first described in 1967 in South Africa, and since then seven distinct antigenic serotypes of the virus have been identified. This bioproject provides full genome sequence data for the seven reference serotypes of EEV, as well as several contemporary field isolates that were made from infected horses. This data is generated as part of a project to investigate the genetic diversity and evolution of the virus in southern Africa.
