Death Sentences in Mandatory Palestine: Civil Courts Dataset (DSMP–CC)

This dataset provides original case-level data on capital punishment in Mandatory Palestine during the British Mandate period (1922–1948). It includes all identified civil court cases in which a death sentence was imposed and confirmed by the Court of Appeal.The dataset records information on defendants, victims, type of offense, motive, and the final outcome of each case, including whether the death sentence was confirmed or commuted. It also includes variables capturing the relationship between victim and offender, as well as key procedural dates associated with each case.The data were constructed from archival sources, including Executive Council minutes, court records, and contemporary newspapers. The dataset is intended to support research on capital punishment, colonial governance, and the political use of clemency.
