Data from: A global tour of iNaturalist mammal data: status, trends, and outlook for macroecology and conservation

In the first week of February 2025, we downloaded mammal observations from January 1, 1900 through January 31, 2025 using the export tool on iNaturalist.org. We batch-exported this data since each export was limited to 200,000 observations.This is not the raw data. We removed observations of domestic, extinct, and captive mammals. We also assigned geographic information (i.e., country name) to each observation using the Natural Earth database (Natural Earth Data 2025) based on the reported latitude and longitude.This cleaned dataset contains 5,293,425 observations of 3,410 species of wild mammals from iNaturalist.<br><br>
