Mercury in Seaweed and Lichens from the Home Range of the Qamanirjuaq Caribou

This project was designed to measure mercury concentrations in seaweed and lichens in the Kivalliq region of Nunavut to determine if they are contributing to high concentrations of mercury in the Qamanirjuaq caribou herd, to gather traditional knowledge about contaminants in caribou and changes in caribou behaviour over time, and to build capacity in the north in sample collection, mercury analysis and communications.
