Seawater-based hydrogen production presents a promising pathway for sustainable energy recovery; however, conventional seawater electrolysis remains limited by high energy demands (i.e., high applied voltage) and undesired chlorine evolution. This study proposes a microbial electrolysis cell (MEC)-based marine hydrogen and carbon capture platform (MHCCP) as a low-voltage, chlorine-free alternative.
