Strigolactones activate defense against the stem-boring weevil Trichobaris mucorea via their interactions with jasmonates and auxin

The aim of this study is to identify genes in the pith of Nicotiana attenuata stems that are regulated by the F-box protein MAX2. Functional enrichment based on differentially expressed genes will indicate possible candidate genes. Gene expression in pith of root-shoot-junction of Nicotiana attenuata empty vector (EV) and ir-max2 plants.Four biological replicates were performed with both wild type and ir-max2 plants. In total 12 microarrays were hybridized. Ir-max2 plants 107 and 136 represent two independently transformed Nicotana attenuata lines both carrying a single T-DNA insertion from the binary plant transformation vector pRESC8MAX at different positions of the genome. The use of the two independent lines is necessary to avoid false positive results due to position effects of the T-DNA insertions.
