Several air samples collected during African Dust Events in the Caribbean were shotgun sequenced and resulted in metagenomes. These metagenomes were analyzed for changes in microbial composition that may have occurred from the source after long-distance transport over the Atlantic Ocean. These African Dust metagenomes were heavily dominated by microeukaryotic fragments, primarily belonging to fungal taxonomies. In addition, three of the five metagenomes had high similarity to one another, indicating similarities in the microbial component of African Dust Events in the Caribbean, despite temporal separation across months and years.
