VPRS 18194 Register of Ward Deaths

This series consists of a folder detailing deaths of children who were wards of the state. The Register of Ward Deaths was maintained by the Children's Welfare Department (VA 1467), Social Welfare Branch, Chief Secretary's Department (VA 2784), Social Welfare Department (VA 946) and Department of Community Welfare Services (VA 613).The folder records the following information:- Registered number (Ward number)- Name- Sex- Date of Death- Station (hospital, residential home etc.)- Date reported- Cause of death- Remarks (generally containes Date of Birth and date child was admitted to care).The folder also contains some loose correspondence in the front relating to administrative and funeral arrangement procedures to be followed should the death of a ward occur.
