Naturalis Biodiversity Centre - Cinchona Collections Database

This dataset relates to a paper published in the Pharmaceutical Historian (2026) exploring the history of the Cinchona spp. collections held at the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre, Leiden. The collections holds around 2,000 Cinchona herbarium, wood and bark specimens. The paper uses a collections-based approach to explore the complex networks of acquisition by which the specimens reached the Netherlands, including via collections built by scientists and colonial and national institutions.
