Colistin resistance emerges with pandrug-resistance in epidemic clones in Klebsiella pneumoniae in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Colistin-resistant K. pneumoniae (ColRKp) recently emerged in two hospitals in Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The aim of the present study was to investigate if ColRKp isolates were clonally related when compared between hospitals, the molecular mechanisms of colistin resistance, and to describe other antimicrobial resistance genes carried by isolates.
