Our article offers a case that identification of Enterococcus faecalis in a patient with urinary-tract infection based on mNGS. mNGS, compared to negative finding using traditional methods, provides a rapid and accurate identificaion of E. faecalis in this patient. We believe our work offers novel evidence of potential application of mNGS in detecting pathogenic microorganisms in the samples negative in the traditional culture, and provides special interest to the readers of BMC Infectious Diseases.
