Spartina alterniflora have substantial influence on the biogeochemical cycle of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur and organic pollutants in wetland ecosystem. Some researchers also showed that endophytic bacteria interacted with plants play an important role in biogeochemical cycles, while little is known about the composition and diversity of its endophytic bacteria. The roots of S. alterniflora were collected from Jiulong River Estuary Provincial Mangrove Reserve, from which the total DNA of endophytic bacteria were extracted and 16S rRNA genes were amplified followed by Illumina analysis. An understanding the microbial community compositions and function of endophytic bacteria will help us to better understand the invasion mechanism of S. alterniflora.
