Palm Oil Recovery Plots

Palm oil plantations are responsible for large-scale habitat loss in tropical ecosystems and severely deplete biodiversity. Reforestation efforts are under way and here we evaluate the soil microbial community along a temporal gradient after removal of oil palm trees, from fallow land to 3 years of reforestation management. We used full-length 16S and ITS1-28S-ITS2 amplicon sequencing to examine the bacterial and fungal communities in soils.
