Camellia oil alleviate lipid metabolism disorders in high-fat diet-induced mice through modulating the bile acid metabolism

Camellia oil (CO) is a premium woody edible oil. It exhibits the potential to regulate blood lipids, retard atherosclerosis, and protect against cardiovascular and cerebrovascular ailments. However, its precise mechanism of action remains elusive. Our objective was to elucidate the fundamental mechanism by which CO alleviates lipid metabolism disorders. The analyses of transcriptome sequencing, gut microbiota composition, and serum bile acid profiles demonstrated that CO revealed that CO stimulates the activation of Cyp7a1, consequently resulting in increased excretion and reabsorption of bile acids. Additionally, it elevated the abundance of BSH-active bacteria.
