Microcosms were performed of anoxic lake sediment, amended with chitin under sulfate-reducing and methanogenic conditions. The microbial community was investigated by 16S rRNA gene, 16S rRNA and dsrB (transcripts) amplicon sequencing at four different time points during an incubation time of 50 days at 15°C.
