Recently we have found that under pressure UCu2P2 becomes the first uranium-based ferromagnet ordering at room temperature with TC = 295 K at 6GPa. At ambient pressure UCu2P2 has the trigonal CaAl2Si2-type structure, and between 10GPa and 17GPa it gets distorted, and a new crystal structure is formed. We intend to establish the high-pressure crystal structure of UCu2P2 and to follow the variations of the elastic constants with pressure. Understanding of the pressure evolution of crystal structure is essential for deciphering the mechanisms for the dramatic increase of TC on the background of electronic structure variations, obtained from ab-initio calculations.
