Paenibacillus sp. SER-28 Genome sequencing

Gram-positive, spore-forming rod was isolated from the rhizospheric soil of Arbutus unedo. Based on phylogenetic analyses, this strain was classified into the Paenibacillus cluster and specific phenotypic characteristics were described for this strain. The degree of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity between the existing Paenibacillus species and the new strain SER-23 was 100%. Based on the phenotypic data and phylogenetic inferences, it is proposed that this strain should be designated as a new species belonging to the genus Paenibacillus.
