Compound hot-dry events, recurrence and future ecological risk in China.

This repository contains the processed datasets and derived analytical outputs used in the study “Compound hot-dry events, recurrence and future ecological risk in China.” The historical analysis covers vegetated grid cells across China during 2001–2023 and integrates satellite-based vegetation observations with gridded climate, land-cover and socioeconomic data. The archived files include analysis-ready vegetation-loss measures, historical Hot, Dry and compound HotDry event classifications, antecedent climate-stress metrics, exact and backward-looking recurrence-sequence indicators, and variables used in the fixed-effects and sensitivity analyses. The repository also includes derived outputs from five NEX-GDDP-CMIP6 climate models used to characterize future HotDry frequency, consecutive-year exposure, one-year recurrence, inter-event intervals and fixed-marginal permutation benchmarks under SSP2–4.5 and SSP5–8.5 through 2060. Additional files provide historical vegetation-sensitivity estimates and future ecological-risk indicators used in the spatial-prioritization analyses. Raw third-party datasets are not redistributed where redistribution is unnecessary or restricted; their original sources, versions and access information are documented in the accompanying manuscript and Supplementary Information. These files are provided to support transparency, reproducibility and reuse of the analyses reported in the study.
