Effect of complementary food ingredients on the infant gut microbiome composition in vitro

Investigating the prebiotic potential of a range of powdered food ingredients, including an inulin control, using an in vitro infant gastroileal digestion and colonic fermentation system. Microbial metabolites were measured and for a subset of the ingredients, the microbiome was examined using 16S rRNA gene sequencing.
