资源简介:
This dataset documents seasonal variation in mobbing responses of passerine bird communities to a diurnal owl in Taiwan. The study tested whether different components of mobbing behavior—alarm calling and approaching—vary between breeding and non-breeding seasons. Data were collected using standardized playback experiments across multiple sites and elevation ranges. Individual passerine responses to Collared Owlet vocalizations were recorded, along with supplementary control trials using a non-predatory species to confirm predator-specific reactions. The data show that alarm calling occurred at similar frequencies across seasons, whereas approaching behavior was more frequent during the breeding season. These findings indicate seasonal adjustment of higher-risk anti-predator behaviors at the community level.
