资源简介:

This record is a primary source archival item about Journey to the West reception, television memory, vernacular pragmatics, mythological character labeling, childhood language socialization, and media derived local speech in Jiepai, Jiangsu, curated for research use in language documentation, vernacular pragmatics, media reception studies, popular mythology in China, Jiangnan vernacular speech studies, rural China studies, folklore transmission, and emic semantic documentation. It is released as the OA_V1 item-level record for “Journey to the West,” a Chinese narrative-language text within the Jiepai Jianghu section of the Chuanyue Archive. The text documents how the television adaptation of Journey to the West entered Jiepai childhood memory and everyday speech. It records repeated summer viewing on a black-and-white television, the lasting clarity of characters and plot in the Archive Author’s memory, and the later experience of finding the original novel less immediately engaging than the familiar television version. The record’s value lies in Journey to the West reception, Chinese television memory, vernacular pragmatics, mythological character labeling, dialectal expressive evaluation, childhood language socialization, and rural media reception. It shows how nationally recognizable mythological figures such as Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Tang Sanzang, and Sha Seng were absorbed into Jiepai speech as local evaluative labels for behavior, personality, bodily conduct, and social competence. Methodologically, this item combines the Archive Author’s childhood media memory, family language transmission, remembered local usage, vernacular speech examples, author annotations, and provenance notes. The annotations distinguish remembered viewing experience, uncertain details about broadcast rhythm, local pragmatic usage, uncertain attribution of “Lao Sha” to Sha Seng, lexical notes, and confidence boundaries. A key feature of the record is the transformation of mythological television characters into pragmatic speech templates. Zhu Bajie appears as a label for overeating or poor eating manners; Tang Sanzang as a label in a teasing comment about inability to find one’s wife; Sha Seng or “Lao Sha” as a possible label for weakness or fear of one’s wife; and Sun Wukong as a label for an active, restless, jumping child. The record also preserves local lexical and pragmatic materials, including “song2” (怂, written form uncertain), a noun used for a useless, timid, or socially ineffective man, and “laomo” (老嬷), meaning wife in Jiepai speech. It also records expressions such as “sai guo shi,” a comparison frame used in local evaluative speech. This item belongs primarily to the Jiepai Jianghu Language, Lexicon, Grammar, and Pragmatics Series. The series-level record has been published on Zenodo with DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20970326. This item-level record has DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.21010570. This item is also a supplement to the Jiepai Jianghu Legends and Beliefs Series, whose series-level record has DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.20834123. The supplemental relation is used because this item documents the vernacular afterlife of a mythological narrative tradition through television reception, childhood origin explanation, and everyday character-based evaluation in Jiepai speech. This public OA_V1 release includes the public narrative-language text, author annotations, and contextual metadata. It does not include television screenshots, video clips, audio materials, private recordings, copyrighted audiovisual materials, or unreleased provenance materials. Any such materials, if relevant, are excluded from this public release or retained in the Author Private Master Archive. Authorship and upload roles are separate. The Archive Author, The Jiepai Archivist, is the creator, archive owner, rights holder, and public contact person.
