EyCon project Photographs and Metadata
收藏资源简介:
EyCon project Nearly 130,000 JPEG images and pages are included in the EyCon dataset, covering armed conflicts between the 1890s and 1918. Thousands of digitized images and metadata from numerous partner institutions were complemented by a corpus of previously unpublished and little-accessible documents. As part of the enrichment of the existing metadata, visual and multimodal similarity studies as well as the detection of humans and animals were performed. In order to include descriptive metadata in the XML format of the dataset, the document captions were processed to identify and extract named entities. Identifying and publishing graphic images from the EyCon dataset posed challenges due to the limitations of automated tools in detecting violence, necessitating human expertise and contextual understanding to accurately classify historically sensitive material. Datasets are presented both in an online digital collection and on a Zenodo repository that can be downloaded and reused.
