This is a volumetric DDoS attack that was based on the DNS protocol. The attack targeted Merit's RADb service. It occurred in two different phases. During the first phase, the service hosted at 198.108.0.0 (it appears as this IP in the anonymized logs) was targeted. This attack is evident in the 2016-01-21 09:00-10:00 and 2016-01-21 15:00-16:00 time frames. In the second phase of the attack, the service hosted on 207.75.112.0 was targeted. This phase happened on the 2016-01-22 13:00-14:00 time frame.
