Twenty-four surface drifters were deployed from research vessels during 4 cruises to the GLOBEC Southern Ocean study area (continental margin west of the Antarctic Peninsula). The drifters are of the WOCE type, holly sock drogued at 15 meters, and track by the ARGOS system. Data reported are date/time, drifter position, water temperature and drifter depth for each ARGOS observation. Cartoon animations of the drifter tracks for year 2001 are presented in an ancillary URL location. See related URLs for this link. We offer this file in 4 different configurations in hopes that most users will be able to read/display this animation. Deployments where made from the following ship/cruises: R/V Lawrence M.
