The aim of this proposal is to study the effect of pressure and temperature on LaAu3(CN)6 and related phases at moderate pressures (< 0.1 GPa) in a recently developed high-pressure sapphire capillary cell. We plan to collect high quality synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction data to quantify the expansivity and compressibility of LaAu3(CN)6 under near ambient conditions with a view to potential sensor applications.
