"Julius in Bush Car". Photograph of a young boy sitting in a bush car, a portable single chair which is wheeled on a wooden frame. The boy is sitting in a wooden chair above a single wheel. There is one man at the front pulling the car and one man at the back pushing. There is a man standing behind the bush car and round thatched huts can be seen in the background.; This belongs to a series of Church of Scotland Foreign Missions Committee lantern slides relating to Lubwa mission. Lubwa mission at Chinsali in north-eastern Zambia began as an outpost of the Free Church of Scotland mission in Malawi. The first missionary expeditions to the Chinsali area were carried out by student teachers from the Overtoun Institute at Khondowe. The Bemba are the largest ethnic group in northern Zambia and the first Free Church of Scotland establishment among the Bemba was a school at Lubwa, opened in 1905 by the Malawian teacher David Kaunda and his wife.
