资源简介:
Data set contains the primary paleomagnetic and environmental magnetic results from samples collected from Site 270 and Site 274 of DSDP Leg 28. The sites were drilled in 1972-73 and represent the first deep coring in the waters adjacent to the Antarctic landmass. The glaciomarine sediments recovered from these cores, especially from DSDP 270, were important in establishing that ice had covered the Antarctic continent for at least 25 million years, much longer than believed at the time. However, no significant paleomagnetic or environmental magnetic study was done on these cores before the present study. Site 270 is located in the eastern basin of the Ross Sea (lat: -77.4413; long: -178.5032; 422.5 mbsf), and Site 274 is located at 250 km northwest of Cape Adare (lat: -68.9968; long: 173.4273; 421 mbsf).
