Data and code for "CMIP6 biogeochemical models under-represent the deep chlorophyll maximum and diverge in how they express it: a regime-stratified BGC-Argo evaluation in the North Pacific"

Using quality-controlled BGC-Argo chlorophyll profiles over the North Pacific, the study evaluates the vertical chlorophyll structure of nine CMIP6 biogeochemical models and tests whether agreement in surface chlorophyll implies agreement in the vertical allocation of chlorophyll. Raw BGC-Argo, CMIP6, satellite, and map source data are not redistributed in this archive. They are available from their original sources: the Argo Global Data Assembly Centre; ESGF (CMIP6 variable chl, table Omon, experiment historical, for the nine models listed in the archived README); the SEANOE physiological look-up table (https://doi.org/10.17882/105732); and standard map/coastline sources. Deep-chlorophyll-maximum regimes are now defined by tertiles of observed DCM depth over the 201 comparison cells (data/regime_201tertile.csv), superseding the regime table used in v1.0.x. Per-model regime-response and two-criterion robustness analyses were added. A spatial-diversity figure and its source table, retracted for a definitional confound, were removed, and the record title was updated accordingly. The concept DOI (10.5281/zenodo.20997630) continues to resolve to the latest version. v1.1.1: Figure S2 was regenerated from the full-precision primary table (data/pairs_full.csv) instead of a rounded derived copy, correcting the last displayed digit of three of the 36 cells (ACCESS prominence ratio, CESM2 surface ratio, and UKESM DCM depth difference). The corresponding script code/paper1_figS2_matrix.py was updated accordingly, and the rounded copy data/fig3_matrix.csv was removed (data/ now contains 8 tables rather than 9). No underlying values, populations, figures other than Figure S2, or conclusions are affected. The record title was restored to the Data and code for ... form used in the article's reference list.
