_Brendan Tang's series __Manga Ormolu__ enters the dialogue on contemporary culture, technology and gloabalization through a fabricated relatinship between ceramic tradition (using the form of Chinese Ming dynasty vessels) and techno-Pop Art. _ _The futuristic update of the Ming vessels in this series recalls 18th -century French gilded ormolu, where historical Chinese vessels were transformed into curiosity pieces for aristocrats. But here, robotic proesthetics inspired by anime (Japanese Animation) and manga (the comics and picture novels of Japan) subvert elitism with the accessibility of popular culture. _ _Sometimes referred to as the collision of high and low art, __Manga Ormolu__, through content, form and material, vividly demonstrates the conflicting and contemporary forces that shape our perceptions of Self and Other. _  Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
