Phylogeny of Schiedea sect. Schiedea inferred from hundreds of nuclear genes

Schiedea (Carophyllaceae), the fifth largest genus endemic to the Hawaiian Islands, has the greatest intrageneric diversity of breeding systems in Hawaii. Within the genus, Schiedea sect. Schiedea comprises 12 species that include hermaphroditic, gynodioecious, subdioecious, and dioecious members. The number of transitions to dioecy is unknown due to lack of phylogenetic resolution among taxa. This project reconstructed phylogenies for section Schiedea using the Angiosperms353 genes assembled from target-enriched Illumina libraries.
