Dataset of Healthcare Workers Cohort Project on Night-Shift Work and Breast Cancer

The database CoorteHCW_Bologna contains monthly data on the number of night shifts performed from January 1998 to December 2023 by 8,663 healthcare workers with at least 6 months of employment at Sant’Orsola Hospital. Data on work shifts were retrieved from historical personnel management archives, allowing reconstruction of each worker’s occupational activity during the study period. The database also includes information on cancer occurrence during follow-up, including breast cancer, obtained through record linkage with the Emilia-Romagna Cancer Registry, as well as information on vital status obtained through record linkage with the national population registry. The shared dataset contains de-identified individual-level data.
