资源简介:
This data was collected in Sydney, Australia with the intent of exploring impacts of fire season on resprouting shrub species.
At each site, a random location was established and a 30 metre transect laid out. All resprouting plants within a two metre distance from the transect were assessed for resprout growth and reproductive output between May and July 2019. The variables measured included two vegetative growth responses; number of resprouts, and length of resprouts, and reproductive response (number of flowers and fruits produced). Number of inflorescences were counted for Banksia serrata and Lambertia formosa (NB still referred to as number of flowers). Size characteristics of each individual plant pre-fire were estimated by measuring height and diameter (at 1 metre high) of the thickest stem or trunk, and width of base/lignotuber. Diameter of stem was found to be the most consistently available measurement to infer size/age of plant before fire across all the study species. For the study species with basal and epicormics resprouting, B. serrata and L. trinervium, data were analysed for each response separately, to test for the effects of seasonality on different resprouting mechanisms (NB column "response").
To assess variation in severity of fire between sites, minimum diameter (see Whight et al. 1999) of five branch tips at chest height was measured on, where possible, 10 individual plants at each site (predominately Leptospermum trinervium). The average of the total tip measurements was calculated to give a severity score for each site.
