资源简介:

Excerpts: The principal sources of farm labor in the Southeastern States are the farm and the areas immediately surrounding the farm. Fully 90 percent of the total farm labor needs in any type of farming area in this region supplied from within that area. It is important, however, to consider the remaining 10 percent, or less, of the total labor needs because at times this represents from 25 percent to 100 percent of the total labor required for a given crop operation. Housing of farm workers throughout these States is unsatisfactory. In almost every area the houses are old and in bad repair. The only facilities available to migrant workers are their own tents or trailers, vacant buildings, barns, tobacco houses, and open camps.
