Freezing injury in winter is an important abiotic stress, which seriously affects the growth and development of plants. Deciduous fruit trees resist freezing injury by dormancy. However, different varieties in the same species have different cold resistance strategies. Little is known about the molecular mechanism of apple trees in response to freezing injury during winter dormancy. Therefore, the annual branches of the freezing resistant cultivar Hanfu (HF) and the freezing sensitive cultivar Naganofuji No. 2 (CF) during the dormant season were used to study the cold resistance of apples at transcriptional levels.
