Dataset Direct Download Service (WFS): Marine growing areas in Var in 2021

The aquaculture areas comply with the provisions of Article D.923-6 of the Rural and Maritime Fisheries Code and are part of a pattern of the structures of the marine crop holdings by department. This scheme of structures of marine crop holdings applies to all authorisations for the exploitation of marine crops in the Var department located on the natural or artificial maritime public domain. For the Var, the exploitation of marine crops is located in “La Baie du Lazaret”, which is to date the only production basin in the department. This basin consists of 3 sites: the Bay of Balaguier, the Baie du Lazaret and the site of La Piastre. It comprises a total of 41 offshore operating concessions in the Baie du Lazaret, 3 in Balaguier Bay and 2 in La Piastre, including: 28 shellfish farming parks and 18 fish farming parks. On the advice of the Regional Commission for Marine Cultures, an aquaculture park may change its activity (from fish farming to shellfish farming or vice versa), while respecting the total number of parks intended for each activity. The prefect shall issue operating authorisation orders following the opinion of the Regional Commission for Marine Cultures.
