The purpose of this project is to provide additional genomic DNA sequences for the rhesus macaque reference animal used for the draft genome assembly - animal 17573. Genomic DNA from this Indian origen female rhesus macaque was obtained from the Southwest National Primate Research Center and sequenced using the Illumina GAIIX platform. These sequences will be combined with the existing Sanger sequences to produce a new assembly for the reference rhesus macaque.
