Solitudine e controllo: ascendenze letterarie (e cinematografiche) per le rappresentazioni distopiche dell'emergenza sanitaria sui social network

What concepts about the present and the future transpired during the lockdown? The exceptionality of this particular time prompted a number of users to share on social networks (Facebook above all) contents typically associated with novels or sci-fi films which deal with dystopian future societies. During the quarantine two constants of a certain way of writing emerged: solitude and control. Among quarantine diaries, bulimic mass communications and Orwellian echoes, these two elements contributed to shape an idea of a future which spawned post apocalyptic scenarios similar to those described in some literary and cinematographic pieces. The dystopian genre has no longer been seen only as a way to imagine the future, but it has also become a curious map to interpret and scrutinize our present.
