资源简介:
Survey of tidal understanding amongst the British and Irish public (Bangor University and the RNLI). The data for the Cut Off By The Tide paper was collected via an online survey instrument that was programmed and disseminated by the Lucid Marketplace – Cint TM in February and March 2022. The data comprises 23 questions pertaining to the respondents knowledge, and misconceptions, around the tide; accompanying socio demographic questions and several circumstantial factors (predictors) that may influence their understanding of the tide. The survey was designed to ask the following research questions (RQ):
RQ1) To what extent are people able to understand tides and apply that knowledge to everyday planning?
RQ2) What are common understandings and misconceptions about the tide?
and
RQ3) What lessons can we learn from people who have experienced tidal cut off?
Our survey achieved national representation by age, gender and region (county) across a valid sample of 1266 respondents from Britain and Northern Ireland, and 102 respondents from Éire (Republic of Ireland), reflecting its proportion of the population of the British Isles as a whole.
